BA blog Short story The Black cat
Hello friends!
'The Black Cat' is a short story written by Edgar Allan Poe. Poe was born in 1809, died at the age of 40 in 1849, and was an important contributor to the American Romantic movement. His work has also been described as mystery, macabre, and Gothic.
"The Black Cat" is a short story by American writer Edgar Allan Poe. It was first published in the August 19, 1843, edition of The Saturday Evening Post. In the story, an unnamed narrator has a strong affection for pets until he perversely turns to abusing them. It is in my BA Syllabus.
It is one of Poe's darkest tales focusing on brutality towards animals, murder, and crime. The story is kind of similar to "The Tell-Tale Heart." However, it's disturbing but very entertaining. It is one of Poe's darkest tales focusing on brutality towards animals, murder, and crime.
Thank you
