HISTORY OF CALL AND MALL in ELT LANGUAGE TEACHING

Here is my blog on English language teaching and I write some of the brief information on CALL and MALL in ELT. This task given by Dr Dilip Barad sir.

computer-assisted language learning (CALL) was a topic of relevance mostly to those with a special interest in that area. Recently, though, computers have become so widespread in schools and homes and their uses have expanded so dramatically that the majority of language teachers must now begin to think about the implications of computers for language learning. 

Computer Assisted Language Learning this article written by Mark Warschauer. He was gave as three important phases of CALL:

• Behavioristic CALL
• Communicative CALL
• Integrative CALL

Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) as in other technology-enhanced language learning milieu, mobile learning environments might be face-to-face, distance, or online; further, they may be self-paced or calendar-based. Copaert (2004) emphasize the importance of developing the language learning environment before deciding on the role of mobile technologies and further emphasizes focusing on the learner ahead of the technology.

Some of the example of Mobile Assistant Language Learning like cell phone PEDs personal digital assistant. This is more often associated with mobile learning the cell phone.
