Thinking activity: Digital Humanities

Hello Readers!!!

Here I share one blog on information about "Digital Humanities". It is very important in our fastest world. We can achieved fast way through  digital technology. So here I noted some point about digital humanities. This activity given by Dr Dilip Barad sir.

Here I define some point on digital humanities related knowledge.

What is digital humanities?

The term "Digital Humanities" has been evolving for several decades and often describes the application and development of digital tools and resources to enable researchers to address questions and perform new types of analyses in the humanities disciplines. It is focuses on how to support humanist and provide them with tools to conduct Digital Humanities research.

It is "Application of computer-based methods for the Humanities. Though, on some occasions, I prefer "Humanities Computing" to make clearer that these applications often have to be developed and that a lot of basic research is required. What I do not like about the term "DH" is that it implies that there is digital humanities as opposed to non-digital humanities. But there is not. In the future, computer-based methods will be naturally used by any scholar. It is not like experimental vs. theoretical physics."

It studies how these media affect the disciplines in which they are used, and what these disciplines have to contribute to our knowledge of computing. It involves investigation, analysis, synthesis and presentation of information in electronic form. Digital humanities is methodological by nature and interdisciplinary in scope. The Digital Humanities also known as humanities computing, it is a field of study research, teaching, and invention concerned with the intersection of computing and the disciplines of the humanities.

What is it doing in English department? This article by Matthew G. Kirschenbaum.

(1) First is after numeric input, text has been by far the most tractable data type for computers to manipulate. Unlike images, audio, video, and so on, there is a long tradition of text-based data processing that was within the capabilities of even some of the earliest computer system and that has for decades fed research in fields like stylistics, linguistics, and auther attribution studies, all heavily associated with English department.

(2) Second is of course, there is the long association between computers and composition, almost as long and just as rich in its lineage.

(3) Third is the pitch-perfect convergence between the intense conversation around editorial theory, method in the 1980s and the widespread means to implement electronic archives and editions very soon after.

(4) it is the openness of English department to Cultural studies, where computers and other objects of digital material culture become the centerpiece of analysis.
